Curtis Valvo, Owner and Lead Tutor, began his dream of assisting those with special needs in high school. He was chosen to work as a “teachers’ assistant” through a school program to encourage students’ to find a career in education. This experience changed his life. Working as a Habilitation Training Specialist for the state through college he gained much experience and understanding of the less than perfect "system" that provides services for individuals with special needs.
After graduating from UCO with his B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, Curtis Valvo began his mission to improve the lives of those with special challenges facing them. He began work as Lead Teacher at Rubicon School and Learning Center, a private academy specifically for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. After Rubicon had to close it's doors, he realized that the need was too great and the time was too short to work for the schools or the state. He decided to go into business working for you...the parents. In the Summer of 2008, Specialized Autism Tutoring began it's quest to change the face of Autism, one child at a time.
We work in conjunction with numerous paraprofessionals like: Developmental Pediatricians,Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Public School Teachers.
