Curtis Valvo had been my sons teacher at the school and was already making a tremendous impact on the way my son communicated with us, that when news of the schools closing came I got excited at the chance we may get the opportunity for him to work with my son more than just a hour or so a day. Because of Curtis' tireless work on helping my son communicate, my son can now communicate with us using ACC devices and pictures as well as other means. My son can now let us know what he wants in so many ways that I cannot begin to tell you the progress he has made. Curtis has helped my son with not only his communication skills but everyday task such as dressing himself, putting on his shoes, feeding himself, getting drinks, social skills, being able to handle himself in public, calming him down when stressed, safety , fine motor skills by giving him task to work, etc., etc, I can’t say enough about this man. I am very satisfied with the progress my son has made while receiving services from Specialized Autism Tutoring! In the six-months my son has been receiving tutoring from Curtis, he has vastly improved his academic achievement and is catching up to typical peers. Specialized Autism Tutoring has always been sincere, patient and caring with my son and the special considerations he requires. In the past, my son has HATED additional tutoring! He would run and hide when his old tutors would show-up. My son almost immedietely warmed-up to his relaxed approach to teaching those with Autism. Now, my son looks forward to his tutoring sessions more than ever before. They have motivated my child to perform better, provided an excellent role-model for my son and given me hope and confidence to know that my son has a bright future ahead of him.
